The Native American Languages Collection at the Sam Noble Museum, University of Oklahoma-Norman Campus is seeking a full-time Collection Manager to be responsible for maintaining the collection, both in terms of our current holdings and new accessions, namely in the processing, loaning, digitization, and preservation of print, audio, and video collections. The Collection Manager is also responsible for interfacing with the public, supervising and training students, interns and volunteers, and helping visitors make use of the collections.
Required Education and Skills: This position minimally requires a bachelor’s degree, 0-24 months of experience in library or museum-related archives, and the ability to move archival boxes between shelves and collection areas (up to ~15lbs each). Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate knowledge of best practices for the preservation of both physical and digital objects (metadata standards, data management, etc.), familiarity with and adherence to ethical conduct with respect to Native peoples and materials, interpersonal skills commensurate with representing the archive in one-on-one and group settings, excellent skills required in organization, computer data entry, and spreadsheets, and an ability to work comfortably independently.
Additional Departmental Preferences:
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week): Monday-Friday. Salary: $15.63 per hour; full benefits.
