    General Summary

    The Director of Development guides the strategic fundraising efforts of the Cultural Foundation of the Texas Panhandle by planning, implementing, evaluating, and refining the development activities for PPHM, TEXAS Outdoor Musical, and other appointed initiatives, with an emphasis on mid- to high-level gifts, memberships, sponsorships, sales, etc. The Director of Development will oversee a list of donor and prospect performance targets set in collaboration with CFTP executive team. This position fosters collaborative relationships with fundraising colleagues. This position will be a member of the CFTP executive leadership team, alongside the Executive Director, Director of Finance and Business, Director of Operations, Director of Marketing, and the TEXAS Artistic Director. The Director of Development will work in close partnership with various members of the WTAMU, CFTP, PPHM, and TEXAS boards.

    Responsibilities:

    • Cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and prospects through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets.
    • Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with fundraising colleagues and appropriate board members and/or other constituents to maximize CFTP’s total gift revenue, plan solicitation strategies, and leverage joint solicitation efforts.
    • Assists and/or leads in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives.
    • Makes effective use of PPHM/TEXAS prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers in coordination with CFTP objectives. Utilizes prospect management database for coordination of prospect assignments, contact reports, proposals, etc.
    • Oversees the membership campaign (and associated staff) for PPHM and TEXAS.
    • May train and supervise staff and student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
    • Ability to work beyond regular office hours for evening and occasional weekend events.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Necessary Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Five years of related experience in fundraising.
    • Knowledge of fundraising techniques, tax laws pertaining to gifts/donations, and grant availability raising techniques.
    • Knowledge of University environment, trends, and resources of higher education.
    • Database management skills.
    • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others and foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with leadership, prospects, donors, and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles. Community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within the community.
    • Ability to work and communicate effectively with groups of the University, both internally and externally.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
    • Effective planning, leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long- and short-range initiatives in conjunction with strategic planning processes.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to philanthropic activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others.
    • Ability to analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports and other documents to support fundraising objectives.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Seven years of related experience in fundraising.
    • Knowledge of Blackbaud Altru – Nonprofit Event Ticketing and Donor Software.
