The Journey Museum is pleased to announce the opportunity for currently enrolled students in a university or college program to apply for one of two STEM Internship at the museum. The Journey Museum is an institutional member of the South Dakota Space Consortium (SDSGC). The SDSGC provides support for these internships through grant funding from NASA. More information on the SDSG can be found at South Dakota Space Grant Consortium (sdsmt.edu)
Interns will participate in the development and implementation of STEM educational programs and exhibits at the Journey Museum. In alignment with the SDSGC mission, these programs and exhibits will be targeted to youth audiences with the goal of inspiring those students to continue forward in STEM education and careers. Previous interns have participated in the Journey Museum’s summer Space Camp, produced educational videos and programs used in the Museum, and assisted in providing Planetarium shows in the museum theater and area schools. Internship activities can be tailored to fit applicant’s individual experience, interests, and academic and professional goals.
Previous experience working in a museum or science center is not required and the Journey Museum will provide guidance and training for all interns. The Journey Museum is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
The STEM Internships offer a flexible schedule to accommodate students' ongoing academic and/or work responsibilities. Students awarded an internship position are expected to complete approximately 180 hours of work before February 2025. Each internship provides a stipend of $2,600. To apply, send a resume and a letter of interest to visserv@journeymuseum.org with the subject line, STEM Internship Application.
