The Meeteetse Museum District (MMD) seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as Digital Collections Intern at Meeteetse Museums, located in the beautiful mountains of northwest Wyoming, only 85 miles from Yellowstone National Park. The Meeteetse Museums consist of the Charles Belden Museum of Western Photography, Meeteetse Museum, and First National Bank Museum (which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places).
Position:
The Digital Collections Intern will be directly supervised by the Director of Collections. The intern will be responsible for cataloging, digitizing, and uploading scans of the Museums’ bound collections materials, beginning with the favorite Charles Belden scrapbook. Training on the new oversize book scanner and uploading to PastPerfect Online will be provided. The intern may assist other regional museums with bound material digitization after the first Belden scrapbook has been digitized and uploaded. The intern may also assist the Director of Collections with other small projects related to the digitization of bound materials, digital collections, and collections management.
The position can be full-time for 10 weeks (30 hours a week) or part-time for up to 38 weeks (at least 8 hours a week) to total 300 hours. Salary is $12.50 per hour with a travel allowance of $300 provided to offset rising area costs. For those with great need, a housing stipend of up to $3000 can be requested; final decision will come from the MMD Board and/or the Meeteetse Museums Foundation Board. Start date is negotiable.
