    Operations & Finance Manager

    Salina Art Center is looking for a dynamic team player with an understanding of nonprofit business and accounting procedures and the motivation to build and support a fiscally sustainable art organization to serve Salina far into the future.

    Summary

    The Operations & Finance Manager is responsible for accounting functions, donor database maintenance, generating database/financial reports, payroll, physical plant, and operations of all facilities, including compliance and coordination of maintenance. This is a full-time salary position that is part of the leadership team.

    Responsibilities & Key Functions

    Operations

     Administer and maintain the Art Center's donor, ticketing, and financial database programs.

     Maintain all Art Center facilities and schedule maintenance.

     Perform office administration, including donor financial correspondence, ordering supplies, cinema reporting, and other reports as needed.

     Maintain facilities documents, components of compliance information, insurance, and board communications and archives.

     Maintain all legal records & building information.

    Finance

     Responsible for accounting functions and compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures: process bills, payables, and receivables; generate checks and statements with approval of the Director and manage bank deposits.

     Assist with membership and development drives and their related financial and administrative duties in collaboration with the Executive Director.

     Oversee documentation and management of financial aspects of fundraising events in collaboration with the Executive Director.

     Perform basic payroll duties and complete related tax forms and records as scheduled.

     Participate in the preparation of the Art Center budget and work with staff to support budget compliance within each department.

    Perform other duties as assigned, including working in the museum one weekend per month as the supervisor on site.

    Minimum Qualifications

     Bachelor's degree preferred or five years equivalent experience with emphasis in business administration and finance.

     Two plus years of experience, with an interest in art and/or nonprofit administration.

     Strong understanding of financial reports, including balance sheets, statements of financial position, endowed funds & beneficial interest, documentation of grants, accounts receivable, audit reports, LYBNT reports, and other financial documents.

     Strong understanding of payroll procedures and benefits administration.

     Experience and interest in working with the public and serving as an "ambassador" of the arts.

     Excellent written and oral communication skills.

     Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain professional standards and expectations.

     Knowledge of Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Google suite, and willingness to learn new technologies and systems.

    Organizational Information

    The Salina Art Center, Inc. is a nonprofit, non-collecting contemporary art and education center incorporated in 1978 in Salina, Kansas, and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums since 1991. The Art Center's mission is "to create exchanges among art, artists, and audiences that reveal life." Programming is connected to a schedule of contemporary visual art exhibitions of work by regional, national, and international artists in a wide variety of media. Exhibitions serve as a catalyst for generating conversations around ideas and issues relevant to personal and community development. The Art Center carries out its mission through visiting artists, education, exhibition, film and video, and outreach programs designed to provide constituents with opportunities for meaningful experiences through active encounters with viewing and making visual art.

    The Salina Art Center is located in historic downtown Salina, Kansas, and has a national reputation as an innovative, artist-supportive, and audience-responsive institution. Creative approaches to programming during the pandemic earned the organization recognition from leading regional and state funding organizations. The Art Center has three distinct facilities: the main location, which houses over 6,000 square feet of galleries and administrative offices; the Art Center Cinema, a ninety-two-seat theater for first-run independent, documentary, and international films; and the Warehouse, a 4,500 square feet education facility that also boasts living and working space for artists-in-residence.

    Salary Range

    $35,500 - $43,000
