    Community Engagement Coordinator

    Salina Art Center is looking for a dynamic, community-minded individual to communicate with diverse audiences on multiple platforms. The Community Engagement Coordinator ensures visitors, donors, and decision-makers have the information they need to support the Art Center's mission to create exchanges among art, artists, and audiences that reveal life.

    Summary

    The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the overall communication strategies that engage the community in opportunities to participate in art experiences. This includes coordinating the flow of information from the Art Center to multiple audiences and includes in-person, print, telephone, digital, and text methods. The Community Engagement Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the entire Art Center staff to assist with developing and implementing communications strategies for all aspects of the Salina Art Center's operation. This is a full-time hourly position and is part of the Art Center Leadership Team.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

     Develop and execute all communications and coordinate advertising buys for Art Center programs, including, but not limited to, exhibitions, education programs, public programs, Art Center Cinema, Membership campaigns, and Fundraising.

     Implement a consistent Text and E-blast strategy for communicating with members and donors.

     Oversee all media relations and work with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategies to raise the Art Center's profile in local and national editorial press (print, broadcast, and electronic).

     Maintain the Art Center's visual brand identity to create a unified communications message and public image across all platforms.

     Coordinate all aspects of print and electronic promotional materials, including conceptualization, editing, production, mailings, and distribution.

     Manage and maintain the Art Center's website (Squarespace) and social media sites (primarily Facebook and Instagram), working collaboratively with Art Center staff and volunteers.

     Photograph and document Art Center events, classes, and exhibitions. Create video content for marketing and communication on social media.

     Oversee and maintain temporary and permanent signage and display of information (bulletin boards, digital signage, etc.) at all Art Center facilities.

     Monitor press coverage and review local press daily.

     Coordinate special event planning and monitor details for proper execution. This includes exhibition openings, fundraisers, and the annual gala event.

     Maintain archive of all Art Center communications material (print and digital), press clippings and related material.

     Oversee online ticketing sites for special events, cinema, and classes.

     Answer phones and perform general customer service daily.

     Participate in selected special events and activities as assigned.

     Supervise interns and other staff as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

     Experience in public relations, social media, or marketing preferred. Bachelor's degree required. A combination of practical experience and education will be strongly considered.

     Social Media management skill

     Photography and video production skills are necessary.

     Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

     Experience and interest in working with the public.

     Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and work professionally with trustees, donors, members, the public, and co-workers.

     Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google G Suite apps.

     Must be able to work one weekend per month as the supervisor on-site in the museum.

    The Salina Art Center, Inc. is a nonprofit, non-collecting contemporary art and education center incorporated in 1978 in Salina, Kansas, and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums since 1991. The Art Center's mission is "to create exchanges among art, artists, and audiences that reveal life." Programming is connected to a schedule of contemporary visual art exhibitions of work by regional, national, and international artists in a wide variety of media. Exhibitions serve as a catalyst for generating conversations around ideas and issues relevant to personal and community development. The Art Center carries out its mission through visiting artists, education, exhibition, film and video, and outreach programs designed to provide constituents with opportunities for meaningful experiences through active encounters with viewing and making visual art.

    The Salina Art Center is located in historic downtown Salina, Kansas, and has a national reputation as an innovative, artist-supportive, and audience-responsive institution. Creative approaches to programming during the pandemic earned the organization recognition from leading regional and state funding organizations. The Art Center has three distinct facilities: the main location, which houses over 6,000 square feet of galleries and administrative offices; the Art Center Cinema, a ninety-two-seat theater for first-run independent, documentary, and international films; and the Warehouse, a 4,500 square feet education facility that also boasts living and working space for artists-in-residence.

    SALARY RANGE

    $35,500 – $42,000
