    Job Title:                    Curator of Collections and Exhibits

    Position Hours:           Full-time (30-40 hours per week)

    FLSA Status:              Non-Exempt

    Department:                Operations

    Supervisor:                 Director

    Supervises:                 N/A

    The Carbon County Museum is seeking a Curator of Collections and Exhibits. This position provides an excellent opportunity to create exciting exhibits, content, and manage a fascinating collection. This candidate will be responsible for the entirety of all collections management as well as bringing forth creative ideas for new exhibits.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • ·       Manage the entirety of the collections within the Carbon County Museum including accessioning and deaccessioning procedures
    • ·       Usage of current best practices in collections management and care
    • ·       Manage all incoming donations
    • ·       Manage all incoming research requests
    • ·       Create a strategic plan for exhibits
    • ·       Assist with the development of educational content for the Carbon County School District and the public at-large
    • ·       Assist the with the creation and implementation of museum events and fundraisers.
    • ·       Help in covering the front desk during museum open hours to the public
    • ·       Interact with museum patrons
    • ·       Perform historic research and interpret that research in many different ways including public speaking, content creation, and written works
    • ·       Assist in discovery and writing of grants
    • ·       Attend meetings with various groups and governmental entities within the county, as assigned by the director
    • ·       Other Duties as Assigned

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • ·       Minimum B.A in Museum Studies, History, Public History or related field. M.A in Museum Studies, Public History or related field preferred. 1-3 years of curatorial experience.
    • ·       Collaborative, team oriented, professional, and positive attitude
    • ·       Excellent organizational skills
    • ·       PastPerfect experience or related Collections Management platform experience
    • ·       Experience creating and or fabricating exhibits
    • ·       Desire to learn about Carbon County history and be part of the Carbon County community

    Working Environment, Travel and Physical Effort

    Ability to occasionally travel to and from other museums in Carbon County when asked. Some travel to regional museum conferences, if needed. Must have physical ability, stamina, and mobility to be able to twist, bend, carry, and move objects of varying sizes. Work at computer stations for several hours and sit at a desk for extended periods, while also be able to remain on your feet for extended periods if the job requires it.

    Benefits

    The Carbon County Museum offers its employees’ health benefits including medical, vision and dental, PTO, and Holiday Pay. This position has a salary range of 34,000-38,000 per year.
