Development & Communications Director
Taos, NM
The Development & Communications Director is primarily responsible for stewarding and growing membership partners and helping to sustain and grow fundraising efforts. Success in this role will be shown by retaining, growing and engaging members and by bringing in increasing donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and governmental entities.
Success is also demonstrated by the development and implementation of strategic, effective, efficient communications and fund development strategies.

Fulltime, exempt position, salary commensurate with experience, salary range: $39,520 - $45,760.

General Responsibilities
Membership Coordination:
Work to grow and retain members: manage database/software, membership acknowledgements and correspondence with members
Seek, plan, and implement opportunities for member engagement and involvement with other program staff (special events, previews, etc.) to engage and grow membership.
External Communications:
Maintain and boost MRM’s presence by:
- Posting regular PSA’s
- Initiating and/or assisting with Facebook, Instagram, Website and/or other communications streams as appropriate
- Leading coordination of external communications to create strategic coverage, according to project and MRM goals
- Maintaining a contact database and producing bi-weekly newsletter and other outreach
- Writing/ circulating/posting press releases as necessary in coordination with staff
- Posting events regularly to online calendars
- Pitching stories to media outlets
Fund Development:
Manage and grow fund development in the following areas:
- Annual End of Year appeal
- Sponsorships
- Legacy giving (planned giving) program
- Assist with other fundraising events such as the online auction, Southwest Artisan Market, Summer Party, etc.
- Assist with grant application preparation.
- Track donor interactions through the Donor Perfect CRS system
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
Knowledge and Skills Should Include:
- Excellent communication skills, adept at verbal and written communications
- Flexibility to be able to work independently as well as in a team
- Ability to commit to high quality work that meets deadlines
- Proficiency in social media platforms and Microsoft suite,
- Demonstrates sensitivity to all manner of people from all walks of life
Ideal Experience Includes:
- At least two years experience in all aspects of the position responsibilities
- Attainment of a BA degree from an accredited university or college in a related field
- Experience with Donor Perfect or other CRS software
