    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Job Title: Education and Outreach Coordinator
    Position Hours: Full-time (30-40 hours per week) 35,000.00/year-37,000.00/year. Health, Vision, Dental, PTO
    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    SUMMARY
    This position will provide educational outreach for Carbon County as a representative of the Carbon County Museum. This person will develop school programming for local institutions that are broad representations of Carbon County and Wyoming history. This position also requires content creation for all ages and abilities. This position will also assist in the creation of in house educational interactive exhibits.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    1. INTERPRETATION
    a. Research, create, and present lesson plans
    b. Execute and work within CCM’s interpretive plan.
    c. Assists Curator in researching objects for proper interpretation
    d. Work with the Director and Curator to create educational content for the general public
    including people of all ages, and abilities

    e. Work closely with the Director and Curator to determine how we can interpret all
    communities within Carbon County
    2. Event Development and Marketing
    a. Develops budgets and time lines for educational and interpretive events
    b. Assist in the planning of seasonal museum events and fundraisers.
    c. Develop relationships with local businesses and other Carbon County cultural entities to
    facilitate sponsorships for museum and community events.
    d. Attend meetings with various groups and governmental entities within the county, as
    assigned by the Director
    e. Seek out grants for education programs that would benefit the museum

    3. ALL STAFF DUTIES
    a. Maintains professionalism by exercising tact, diplomacy and courtesy at all times.
    b. Provide positive patron interactions.
    c. Assists in the execution of museum events.
    d. Actively seeks to learn the history of Carbon County.
    e. Conduct tours.
    f. Works with other members of the staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
    g. Follows directions and works without close supervision.
    h. Flexible schedule including some evening and weekend availability
    i. Work with Carbon County business, cultural, and governmental entities in a respectful manner
    j. Seeks out educational opportunities and attends trainings as approved.
    k. Supports and promotes the museum’s mission.
    l. Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Some knowledge of museum best practice but will consider more educational backgrounds and train in museum
    • best practice for the right candidate
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Services, and Social Media
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in education, marketing, history, public history or any other relative field
    • Interest in the history and culture of Carbon County or willingness to learn history pertinent to Carbon County.
    • Willingness to be part of the community and engage with the cultural entities of Carbon County
    • Some grant writing experience, but willing to train the right candidate
    • Candidate must be comfortable with public speaking and have experience presenting historic materials groups of varying ages and abilities.
