About the Texas Heritage Museum
The Texas Heritage Museum (THM) at Hill College is an academic museum dedicated to preserving and interpreting the experiences of Texans during wartime and examining how those experiences continue to shape our state and nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM)—a distinction held by fewer than 4% of museums nationwide—THM upholds the highest professional standards in collections care, exhibitions, research, and public engagement.
The Texas Heritage Museum has been a department of Hill College since 1964 and is an integral part of the college’s culture and mission. Located at the heart of Hill College’s main campus in Hillsboro, THM aligns with the college’s mission, vision, and core values, enriching educational opportunities for Hill College students, K–12 learners, and the broader community. The mission of the museum is:
“To explore Texas and Texans during wartime and how those experiences affect us today.”
Hill College is a community college serving five counties—Hill, Johnson, Somervell, Bosque, and Hood—with campuses in Hillsboro, Cleburne, and a Higher Education Center in Burleson. Hillsboro, home to the main campus, is a welcoming historic community located along I-35 between Dallas–Fort Worth and Waco, offering small-town charm with convenient access to major cultural and historical resources.
