    Museum Custodian

    The National Museum of Forest Service History is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich legacy of the U.S. Forest Service and the American conservation movement. Open seven days a week, the museum welcomes visitors of all ages to explore stories, exhibits, and experiences that connect people to our shared public lands history. The Museum is located approx.. 1 mile west of the Missoula Airport at 6305 Highway 10 West.

    On 17 July 2026, the National Conservation Legacy Center, a new world class museum opened its’ doors creating opportunities to welcome visitors and bring the American conservation story to life. This is an especially exciting time to join the National Museum of Forest Service History as we continue to grow and expand our impact.

    We are seeking someone that loves to clean and takes great pride in their work.

    Job Summary:

    The successful museum custodian advances the museum’s mission by: maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment and facility for museum visitors, staff, and property; helps set-up and take-down for special events; and works as a team member on other tasks as assigned.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    ·        Experience cleaning facilities with many construction types including wood, glass and plexiglass.

    ·        Superior organizational and time management skills

    ·        Effective team player

    ·        Resourceful self-starter

    ·        Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

    ·        Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and the ability to climb stairs as needed

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    •  Follow daily, weekly, and monthly custodial task schedule
    • Set up and take down (tables, chairs, lighting, staffing, paper products, housekeeping) for museum events
    • Be familiar with safety and security procedures and provide security support as needed
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned

    Shifts start at 8am and may be flexible depending on Museum activities. Weekend and occasional evening work is required. Pay starts at $16 to $18 per hour DOE.

    Employment Type

    Permanent, part-time position including benefits. Please note the Museum currently does not offer a group health insurance policy.
