The University of Nebraska State Museum is seeking a full-time Planetarium Coordinator. Located in Morrill Hall on the UNL city campus, this position coordinates, develops, and helps deliver the museum’s planetarium programming for pK-12, postsecondary students, and other museum visitors. This position will be tasked with researching and creating full-dome educational experiences, including but not limited to current night sky visuals, interactive planetarium programming, and short-form full-dome videos.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in BA or BS in Arts and Sciences or related field
• Two years of experience developing and delivering interactive educational programming.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills related to educational presentations and student-centered programs.
• Ability to effectively lead large groups in an educational setting.
• Working knowledge of astronomy and resources for acquiring current astronomical information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Communication, Education, Media Arts, Astronomy, Physics, Earth Sciences, or related field.
• Experience with Planetarium software.
• Experience creating short and long form planetarium experiences using data visualization software, audio and video editing software, and 3d modeling software.
• Experience creating science communication experiences for a wide variety of ages and knowledge levels.
• Experience with Openspace, Worldviewer, or other planetarium software systems.
• Experience with Adobe After Effects, Premier Pro, and Audition.
• Experience with Blender, Cinema 4d, or other 3d rendering software.
• Familiarity with professional audiovisual systems.
• Knowledge of both Windows and Mac operating systems.
